Hi!

Hi! I’m Yatin, a senior at Garfield High School in Seattle, Washington in the US. I love playing games, listening to music, swimming, and eating whatever I can find in my fridge.

Learning about Artificial Intelligence and the affects it has on our world has opened my eyes to how much our societies are going to change over the next decade. I’ve been spending my time exploring these new technologies and looking into the influences they will have on our lives.

My journey into the world of artificial intelligence started with Inspirit AI this past summer, when I took part in an eight week long Introduction to AI course. For the first half, I learned about logistic regression, neural networks, and other models. For the second half, under the guidance of Harry Sha, a Stanford student studying math and CS, me and a few other students used what we had learned about natural language processing to design a model to find and categorize disaster relief related tweets, to better find those in need of aid during natural disasters.

I continued my journey into AI when I signed up for a deeper dive into artificial intelligence in healthcare, which I’m currently enrolled in. So far, I’ve learned more about how AI can be used to better aid advancements in things like computer vision or chemistry stimulations, and I’ve heard from a variety of guest speakers on the plethora of possibilities in the field. With the help of instructor Aansh Shah, a few other students and I are working on using data from brain waves to predict seizures.

Over the course of this blog, I hope to explore the ethics of Artificial Intelligence and more specifically, the impacts it will have on the economy and job market. Investigating deeper into the unintended consequences new technology will have on our economy and communities will allow for a more balanced and aware perspective of these advancements.
